Who we are
This project was born from the need to expand a 36-year-old initiative dedicated to teaching.
This experience has provided us with the key and the drive to create a parallel project where we can broaden networks, expand dance, share creation processes, and, above all, be an active part of the cultural fabric of the Cabañal neighborhood.
After the first two editions and their positive reception and impact, in 2024 we are committed to a third edition where we aim to increase resources, expand the number of residencies, and continue building networks both within and outside the neighborhood.
Our objectives
Create a meeting and reference space for dance in the Cabañal neighborhood through creation proposals, residencies, workshops, and networking with organizations, associations, and other communities in the neighborhood.
- Analyze the context in which the Association is situated
- Generate links and participation spaces in the neighborhood: students, dance professionals, dance spectators, neighborhood associations and collectives, neighborhood residents, representation and training spaces.
- Support and give visibility to new emerging artists in their final year or recent graduates from the María Carbonell academy.
- Be a motivating tool for research and exploration for dance teachers and professionals.
- Honor the creation processes through research and creation residencies.
- Share the processes resulting from the residencies with the neighborhood and students.
- Connect the project with exhibition spaces where the processes started in the residencies can continue.
- Create and raise awareness among new spectators.
- Bring contemporary arts closer through different techniques and styles.
